Blockchain, a potential solution for kicking counterfeits out of online marketplaces?
The growth in online platforms has increased availability of options for consumers granting them competitive pricing, better delivery options and more choice, along with this has increased the amount of vectors available for counterfeiters to sell inauthentic goods. They create an indirect competition with brand owners, leading to loss of revenue but also a health and safety risk as we are not aware of the origin of the products. In this whitepaper, I explored the current anti-counterfeiting market controls spotlighting blockchain technology as a means of stamping out counterfeits.
